WHAT IS THIS? WHAT AM I LOOKING AT?
It's a sandbox! A relaxed environment and a loose setting to play in as you wish. Have fun, be nice to the other kids and don't break the game, then we should be good!
WHAT IS THE THEME OF THE GAME?
Fantasy slice of life with some political intrigue in the mix. Arrivals aren't only up against the rogue magic that brought them here, but potentially also against the powerful political forces trying to make them stay.
IS THERE A PLOT?
Yes and no. There is an overarching idea with the events taking place, but the plot can be swayed depending on the characters involved's choices and actions.
IS THIS A PRIVATE AFFAIR?
No. We're generally open to all, with a few exceptions. Read the rules.
APPLICATIONS? ACTIVITY CHECK?
None! You sign up with the info required, and you're in. After that, you do pretty much what you want. Did I mention it's a relaxed RP environment here?

WHAT IS EFITH?

WHO IS SARICA?
Oh, only one of the leading political forces in the country. Sarica is a legislator (political adviser) to the Senate and the the Sacred Council (the Temples) and spends most of his time travelling all over the country to negotiate law proposals and conflicting interests. He's extremely talented at it and therefore influential. It's said he hosts orgies every week (maybe a slight exaggeration, but he does host a lot), it's said that he started the Second Reecian War single man (also an exaggeration, the war was already on) and that he might even have killed his own father (no comment), but no one knows for sure and you will have to form your own opinions, I guess.
HOW DOES MY CHARACTER ARRIVE?
From one moment to the next, while they were wishing most desperately to get away from whatever they were caught up in, they opened their eyes and found themselves in a new, unknown world. The Capital of Efith, right in front of the Senate. Seemingly no one is surprised that they've arrived, and they will be shown more or less gently to the special office set up for "visitors". Once they've been noted in the archives, they are on their own - though Sarica has secured a villa for visitors not far from his own home.
WHAT DOES MY CHARACTER ARRIVE WITH?
Everything they were carrying with them on their person at the time of leaving their own world or dimension. Unless they have an item with them that is world-breaking, in which case that particular item will be gone. Please note in sign-up what you expect your character to have with them and mod will determine whether it's possible or not.
IS THERE A NETWORK?
No. This sandbox doesn't operate with a network. All interaction will either be in person or the epistolary way. In the OOC community, monthly a TFLN meme will go up where we can play pretend that Efith has phones, but it's not in-sandbox canon.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?
Efith has what would be equal to a Mediterranean climate, like Greece, with mild and wet winters in the lowlands and cold, snowy winters in the mountain regions. The summers are always hot and dry.
WHAT ABOUT HOUSING?
Read more under locations, but simply put, all visitors (arrivals) to Efith will be accommodated in a huge villa especially chosen for the task. There is room for 20 people at a time, but if more arrive, Sarica will probably be inclined to find another villa and so on and so forth. There is always room enough in the Capital.
AND CURRENCY?
Old-fashioned coin! Efith has a selection of coins they use for currency, the heaviest gold coins worth a worker's monthly salary, while the slightly less expensive silver and bronze pieces can buy a dead pig and a bottle of wine, respectively. Play around with it as you want!
WILL CHARACTERS EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO ASSIMILATE WITH EFITHIAN SOCIETY, LIKE MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE AND LIVE OR GET A JOB?
At first, since everyone expects this problem to be temporary - minus, maybe, a special someone - visitors are limited to live in the designated villa and stick together, outsiders in the community. But on the long term, as politicians agree that it's not a problem solved in weeks or even months, a certain degree of assimilation will be allowed and even expected. Meaning that, yes, eventually your character will be able to get their own house. The first step, though, will be them getting hired, because who will hire them when Efithians have slaves to do most of the physical labour? Yes, the question is, what skills can they contribute with?
There is at least one person very interested in this.
EFITHIAN - SETTING

The world of which Efith is a part has always known magic. In the various countries they call it various things and deal wiht it in various ways, but the magic has always been there. A gift from the gods, they say - all of them, Mergan, Reece, the Bican Islands and Efith right in the middle of it. The magic is most harnessed in Efith where the temple institutions have been in charge of working it for longer than anyone remembers anymore. It is said that the magic was given to the Efitians by their main deity, the Mysteries, to keep the communication open between heaven and earth. That is still how they use it the most.
However, since the Second Reecian War started raging, certain politicians have started insisting the magic be used against their enemies for the victory of their country. Maybe it is this blasphemous talk that has made the Mysteries open up all channels to other dimensions - or maybe it's just a fluke, who knows? The Mysteries don't tell.
Whatever way it happened, one day the first visitor was brought to the Capital and not knowing what to do with them, legislator Sarica had a house cleared for them and focused all the temples' attentions on finding a way to bring them back to where they came from.
At least, officially.
In the background, Sarica might or might not be working to find a way to draft the visitors into his war that he is intent on winning, at all costs, by all sacrifices necessary.

These words are written in chalk on the wall of the guesthouse where the visitors stay. No one knows who wrote it and no one knows what it means, but it can't be washed off and it reads like a warning.

EFITHIAN - PREMISE

The last thing you remember was wanting to get away, badly. You might even have wanted it so much that you sent a prayer - to the heavens, your ancestors, any given deity you worship, the cosmos, who knows. Well, your prayer was answered. That is all you know, because you definitely got away.
You simply blink a few times and find yourself in front of a huge, circular building made from white marble, it shines in the sharp, scorching sun. Someone notices you, you don't know who they are, but they approach and they ask, just arrived. You confirm. They nod and give you a name, Sarica, pointing towards the huge double door-entrance of the building in front of you.
Ask for Sarica's welcome.
That is how you know how to step inside, ask around for Sarica's welcome until someone finally takes pity on you and leads you to an intermittent office. A young man takes your name, the name of where you came from and finally gives you a scroll of paper which, upon opening, reads:
Welcome to Efith, my friend. You are our guest now, supposedly, because - and I might as well disclose this immediately - we don't know how to send you back. Yet. Have patience. There is a villa available for your kind, indicated on the map below. It is your home until further notice.
That is how Sarica, whoever he is, leaves you to find your feet in this strange, new land.
